Making Head-Way!

Hey Everyone!

Yet another class has passed us by today. With our first marketing pitch right around the corner, we are preparing our presentation and working hard to finalize our big event to present the newly, redesigned Honda Insight to the NC State Community (our Generation Y). Thoughts and ideas have been tossed around the classroom as we try to create the perfect event to display Honda's hard work, as well as ours.
With the Brick Yard being such a large part of every NC State student's life, we thought for sure that this would be the ideal location for our showcase; but once again, that's only one idea in our list of many. We have also thrown around the idea of hosting an event on Harris Field, another ideal location for passer-byers. Our main focus is to make the Honda Insight the focus of the event; we want Generation Y to experience the eco-friendliness, as well as the smooth ride and sleek design for themselves. With that in mind we are working to create an event separate of our main event so that our target market will be able to actually get inside the vehicle without a stuffy, salesperson looming over their shoulders, pitching the price rather than the vehicle amenities. Within our main event, we want students to experience the youthfullness of the vehicle, so we are hoping to implement a marketing plan that will allow Genereation Y to enjoy the event, and more importantly gain a better understanding of the Insight.
This Thrusday, we will be pitching our ideas to a representative of Honda, as well as a few representatives from our employer, Edventure Partners. As a company, Red and White Concepts, is hoping to present a marketing plan that will have the representatives fully engaged, wanting to put our plan in to action immediatley.
With our Twitter, Facebook Group, and our blog we are pushing to reach the NC State community to keep our target market in the loop with our up-to-date progress. These non-traditional PR methods have become increasingly popular among our target market; this is evident with the number of followers that we have already gained in only a short, two weeks of having the websites open to the public.
Along with our PR Team, we have Research, Advertisement, Finance, Campaign Development/Implementation and Campiagn Reporting Teams who are also working very hard to gain a better understanding of our target market, as well as what marketing plan will work best with the NC State Community.
With that being said, we would like to thank all of you who have taken our survey, joined our Facebook Group or those of you who are following our blog or Twitter; your support and suggestions are fully appreciated! Keep the comments coming and let us know what you think!

We have recently created a team logo for our agency Red And White Concepts. Currently in class we are brainstorming ideas for our major campaign event in October. As of now, we are trying to plan an event in the Brickyard on Tuesday, October 20. We are also brainstorming on other events around the Raleigh area such as at the State Fairgrounds. Also, in our individual groups we are preparing for the Marketing Strategy meeting on October 1. We are presenting our progress along with our other ideas to representatives from EdVenture Partners.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 17, 2009

NC State Selected to Participate in the 2010 Honda Insight Marketing Competition

Raleigh, NC [September 17, 2009] - North Carolina State University has been selected as one of the 21 schools throughout the nation to participate in the 2010 Honda Insight Marketing Competition. The students in Professor Claudia Kimbrough’s Integrated Marketing Communications class have created a working marketing agency, Red and White Concepts, responsible for researching, implementing and evaluating an integrated marketing campaign around the NC State campus and surrounding area. This year’s campaign is aimed at increasing awareness of and interest in the 2010 Honda Insight hybrid among the Generation Y market. At the end of the semester, all 21 campuses will be competing to present their creative ideas to a panel of Honda executives.

Red and White Concept’s will begin by conducting research to learn more about their target market, Generation Y. After analyzing the research findings, they will design a campaign aimed at reaching Generation Y and boosting excitement for the Insight. The campaign will be brought to life with a $2,500 budget provided by Honda. At the end of the semester, post-campaign research will be collected to determine the effectiveness of the campaign. Red and White Concepts will conclude the semester with a formal presentation to Honda executives summarizing the campaign’s results and successes.

“This campaign teaches students what it’s like to run a real life marketing agency and campaign for a highly publicized product. Not only does it teach everyone how to implement all of the marketing techniques that are learned in classes, but it gives them experience in all areas of business, from entrepreneurship to basic budgeting and finance. This is one of the best opportunities that these students have to gain real life experience in any NC State class,” Professor Kimbrough, Marketing Professor, stated. Neighboring schools include Meredith College, Duke University, Wake Forest University and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. With so many schools in proximity to one another around the Raleigh/Durham area, there is a plethora of the Generation Y market available for Red and White Concepts to research and analyze.

The distinctively styled, five-passenger, five-door Insight is powered by an Integrated Motor Assist™ (IMA™) system comprised of a 1.3-liter i-VTEC® gasoline engine and a 10-kilowatt electric motor. The Insight features the Ecological Drive Assist System (Eco Assist™) an innovation that can further enhance efficient vehicle operation while providing feedback related to individual driving styles. A sleek exterior blends design elements from the original 2000 Insight's highly aerodynamic side profile with a front-end design similar to the hydrogen-powered FCX Clarity, a marquee environmental product for Honda. The interior offers a roomy passenger environment with a configurable rear seating and cargo area that benefits from 60/40 split fold-down seats.
